Due Process Skills Lab

Two-Day Interactive, Hands-On Training

Designed for Tribal Adjudicators and supporting personnel, this two-day lab takes due process beyond the regulations and into real-world application. Roll up your sleeves! We’re going to work through the steps, tackle challenging scenarios, and strengthen the skills needed to support fair, consistent, and defensible adjudication decisions.

Here’s what we’ll be doing:

• Exploring different types of due process and when they apply
• Researching and evaluating derogatory information
• Developing meaningful questions to address concerns
• Writing effective letters of inquiry
• Preparing preliminary determination letters
• Reviewing applicant responses and supporting documentation
• Evaluating findings and supporting adjudication determinations

This is a working lab! Participants will practice, problem-solve, and develop practical tools and documents they can take back and use in their Tribal programs.
